Biosphere 2 is in disarray. The three-acre glass and steel structure 20 miles north of Tucson on Arizona Highway 77 is still one of the technological wonders of the world, but it has fallen on hard times since the University of Arizona took it over a year ago.Built in the late '90s at a cost of $150 million by entrepreneur and environmentalist Ed Bass, it first served as the world's largest closed-loop life support system, simulating what life might be like in a human colony on Mars.Today, it is a U of A propaganda mill, but it's still worth taking the $20 tour.Tours "under the glass" run from 9 a.M.To 4 p.M.Every day except Thanksgiving and Christmas.Catch the last tour before 3 p.M.Be forewarned that the adventure requires some physical agility.Visitors climb stairs, duck through low passageways, and step through airlocks. Before tours, which run for about 1.5 hours, participants watch a 10-minute documentary about the history and current ownership of Biosphere 2.There are some errors, most notable of which is the identification of ownership.CDO Ranching of Tucson no longer owns Biosphere 2, having donated it to the University of Arizona.Accordingly, the University no longer leases it.The public relations show is old.No telling when a new one will be made.To judge by comments overheard from the audience, and also monitored from travel sites on the Internet, the University manages to come off as arrogant and self-congratulatory.At the assembly point in the lower level of what was the human habitat, one finds a collection of posters unrelated to the tour.Probably these change and are the products of other events that use the campus. What we saw was from a Physics conference that apparently dealt with quantum mechanics. For visitors, it was an impenetrable and off-putting display of hubris. The tour guide does not mention or explain them, at least ours didn't.The replacement cost of Biosphere 2 has been stated as $1 billion in the past, but others have reported it as closer to $4 billion to $8 billion. It may be impossible to duplicate at all, it is said, because of the advent of regulations to prevent the removal of some of the species inside the biosphere from their native places. This is especially true of the coral reef in the biosphere's ocean.Coral reefs are endangered globally.Whereas the Biosphere 2 apparatus, that 3-acre glass and steel space frame structure that dominates the campus and the view for miles, was originally built by Space Biospheres Ventures to simulate and study the characteristics and performance of then state-of-the-art closed-loop life support for a space colony, this fact is not mentioned, or barely mentioned. Some of the original contents have been swept away by new experimental setups. In most cases it is not clear that the experiments need to be performed inside a device like the Biosphere.Guides regularly acknowledge that they could be done in large greenhouses. So Biosphere 2 is underutilized, wasted, like any free thing. In the rain forest biome, experimentation threatens the continued existence of irreplaceable assets by testing their response to drought conditions as a demonstration of what is said to be expected of climate change within the next 100 years.Trees in the biome drop some of their leaves to conserve water and sink deeper roots in search of more.Surface roots die.If there is something new to be learned here, I haven't heard about it.There is the "blue barrel" experiment, which investigates the responses of competing grasses to environmental change.About half of the coastal fog desert died after researchers turned off the "rain" to protect instruments in the experiment. With that action, and the continuing "drought" experiments, the inside of Biosphere 2 is now a tinderbox.Nearby, we find an experiment to learn how it is that otherwise competitive insects, one of which swims under the surface or the water and one of which walks on the surface, manage to practice civility in such close quarters. One reasonable hypothesis is that the surface tension, which acts like a flexible rubber sheet, separates the two with an impenetrable barrier.I call it the "good walls make good neighbors" hypothesis. But this experiment could be done anywhere. As operated by the University, Biosphere 2 has revenue of about $1 million a year and expenses of $3.5 million annually. In the winter peak season, about 1200 visitors a day pass through, but that drops to 100 a day in the hot summer months. In total, it is said that 100,000 visitors take the tour annually, The difference between revenue and expenses has so-far been made up with a grant from the creator of Biosphere 2, Edward Bass, an oil man from Texas, who donated $30 million for that purpose in 2007, and also brokered the deal between CDO Ranching and the University.Biosphere 2 is no longer "closed" to air or water.Fans pressurize the air in the "lungs", which were originally intended to maintain nearly constant atmospheric pressure within the Biosphere by expanding or collapsing in response to changes in air temperature.Air flows out through open airlocks elsewhere in the structure.Water in the form of vapor (humidity) flows out with the air, and makeup water is required to compensate for the loss.Out tour guide was not familiar with the quantity required.Bathrooms are no longer plumbed into the Biosphere's original self-contained, recycling system.Neither is the Biosphere's structure well maintained.Whereas the original Space Biosphere Ventures operation required 300 employees to keep up the infrastructure, the University is making do with 60, many of them part-timers.Glass panes in the lower tier are very visibly cracked, more so than a few years ago, or even six months ago.Rust is taking the space frame in many places. Some small parts of the structure have collapsed, and the debris is taped off where it has fallen. There are a few photovoltaic power displays on the grounds, but the gauges that used to show voltage and current output are in disrepair and no longer function,.The ocean is dying. The water is beyond opaque. Our tour guide, "Doug," advised us that, "Hey, it's an ocean. It's supposed to be murky." I don't think so, Doug.I've seen this ocean in better days. The wave machine no longer functions or has been turned off.A fountain of air bubbles rises from the 24-foot depths of the ocean and spreads out in the surface, presumably to oxygenate the water, doing the job intended for the wave machine, but apparently with less success.Animal species in the ocean have vanished, save for one or two.The dozen or so information placards under the windows of the underwater viewing chamber testify to the absence of the creatures they portray. The reef is spotted with white patches, the skeletal remains of dead coral. The surface is crowded with floating debris.Electrical power requirements account for much of the $3.5 million cost of operations.Whereas electricity to run the facility's environmental controls and pumps used to come from the "energy center" between the south and west lungs, power is now taken from the local grid, which has been expanded to serve the campus.Although our tour guide (Jake if you liked the tour, Doug if you didn't) told us that the energy center was still available for backup, this seems unlikely unless the University is paying for natural gas or diesel fuel for the large reciprocating prime movers, keeping up the batteries, changing the oil, and testing each week, as is required to maintain operations of that kind. One is compelled to wonder whether this is a research facility or a freebie retreat for the university's self-appointed elite.Ed Bass built the place, maintained it while it was in limbo, and donated virtually all of the capital to operate it, yet his name is seldom mentioned in the long tour-guide diatribes about how "we" did this and that.In truth, the University of Arizona was barely involved.Eventually, the money will run out.Bass is entitled to wonder what the university is doing to preserve his investment and become self-supporting.Other than a snack bar, there is no restaurant to serve visitors. The conference center is empty and largely unused. It would make an excellent venue for entertainment and retail within a space-themed park, the Biosphere "apparatus" starring in its original role, but that has not been placed on the agenda. It should be.For one thing, Biosphere 2 could become a moneymaker with appropriate management.Using the facility as a mechanism to break down barriers that have been artificially erected between academic disciplines would make a nice start, and one very appropriate to the supposed role of a university in society, which is to imagine the previously unimaginable. The Eller College of Management teaches entrepreneurship. The University has intellectual resources and student power in theater and stagecraft, biology, and engineering. It has research interests in photovoltaics, energy storage, space science, direct potable reuse of wastewater, controlled environment agriculture, and robotics. In short, it has the knowledge and the muscle to do good.In theory, it could pre-create a galactic frontier in a theatrical context and with a technological foundation. The University could make money.Faculty and students could have fun. They could learn stuff. But, if you know this university, you know that it is a creature of politics, not an intellectual life force. It will carry on the status quo.My advice. See Biosphere 2 earlier rather than later, while you still can.

There is a lot of variety in most things in life, but there are few products that can vary as much as the common - or not so common - chair.Chairs come in every shape, size, design colour and fabric imaginable and they can also serve any number of different purposes. In its most basic form a chair is simply something that we sit on, but when you think beyond that the chair becomes a much more complex item.Ultimately every chair has a purpose and that purpose may be a single one, or one with multiple objectives. The living room chair, easy chair or sofa chair is a classic example. On the face of it, it is simply a chair, however most people who buy that kind of chair want it to do two things.Firstly they want it to be comfortable, but secondly they also want it to look good, fit in with the room's dcor and add a visual point of interest. In terms of "comfort", the expression is far too general. An ergonomic office chair is comfortable for working on a PC, but it would not be considered ideal or appropriate for watching TV in the evening. So even "comfort" means different things in the context of different environments and different ways of using a chair. Our expectations of the chair have and continue to grow and expand as we develop more activities, more ways of performing seated tasks, and as different designs and trends come into and go out of fashion.Ergonomics and orthopedics are now playing an ever increasing role in chair design as engineers seek to make chairs not only feel good, but also to actively support our skeletal and muscular structure. The result of these analytical ways of evaluating chair design have seen the development of orthopedic chairs and task chairs - chairs that work with our body and that stay in harmony with the tasks or activities that we perform whilst seated on them. With an increasingly sedentary work force and more and more chair based hobbies and pastimes, how well our chairs support us is becoming increasingly important and this is being recognised in the future design of chairs. So what does the future have to offer?Already there are chairs in stores and in development that are replicating human biology in their design. These chairs have seat and backrest designs based around the human spine with the concept that a chair with a spine can support a body based around a skeletal spine. Each of the mechanical vertebrae segments making up the chair's spine is hinged allowing them to move uniformly in equilibrium with a human back.Other developments are exploring advanced chairs that move as the body moves. These chairs cease to be passive supports and become automatically adjusting supports that move and twist as the person sitting on them moves. There are also self adjusting chairs that shape themselves to the natural curves and bends of the back, shoulders, bottom and upper thighs by reacting to the different pressure points applied to them. These chairs will support everyone who sits on them in a slightly different way by taking account of their personal biology, weight and body shape.Ultimately the future holds many advances in ergonomic, orthopedic and active support chair design and we are just beginning to see the first fruition of these developments.
Develop your most powerful tool towards enhancing a life that may be lacking generous amounts of financial abundance, joy and fulfillment - empower your mind! By empowering your mind, you also qualify yourself for potentially massive success in any economic climate. What if you KNEW, beyond the shadow of ANY doubt, that every single thought that you think; as well as your exact feelings in the midst of every single thought, actually MATTERED to the degree that those very specific thoughts and feelings actually shaped and fabricated your every single experience - each and every day? Well, what MIGHT you want to do? if you KNEW this to be TRUE? Well, you would most certainly DESIRE to DEVELOP, INSPIRE and EMPOWER your MIND "to the Nth Degree" (which means. "as far as you can") - am I correct? In an absolute passion for this type of knowledge, life is now teaching many people that not only is this becoming a scientifically "proven" truth (that thoughts + feelings = ALL of our personal, individual experiences), but that this science is now indeed, currently fully-validated by the most cutting-edge Quantum-Mechanics and Brain-Science research "experiments" being conducted in any major university today.IT IS scientific fact that our most repetitive thoughts, and in particular our packed-with-extra emotion thoughts do create specific, well-beaten neural-pathways in our brains (that rapidly assume an auto-pilot re-launching posture) -- just as sure as an old covered wagon's wooden wheels made deep, well-traveled groves and pathways across the plains, when many adventurous Souls utilized the exact same route over and over to explore the West. What you think about and how often you repetitively think about any particular subject-matter; in particular thoughts ("subject-matter") that are oozing with powerful and passionate emotions -- ARE in fact destined to manifest right into your own, daily Life.Indeed, the precise subject matter of your most repetitive thoughts "come alive" throughout every single day of your life.In fact, it has always been so throughout your entire life, right up to and including -- now! Therefore, we next examine the first "BIG question". How To? First however, a brief explanation of the difference between our conscious mental intent, and our subconscious mind's life-running hard-drive functionality; in relation to the most practical, applicable, "for real" mind empowerment tools that successfully accomplish this ever so crucial mastery of our thoughts and emotions.According to both Dr.Joseph Dispenza (http.//www.DrJoeDispenza.Com/), a brain-science expert from San Diego, California - who recently published "Evolve Your Brain"; and Dr.Bruce Lipton, a PhD Cellular Biologist from Stanford University (http.//www.BruceLipton.Com/), who recently published "The Biology of Belief" - both agree that using computer-capacity terminology ("bits" of processing-power), that our conscious mind can keep track of up to 2,000 "bits" of information per second -- sounds impressive, eh? Well now, did you know that, in comparison, that your subconscious mind blazes away at about 400-Billion "bits of information" - EVERY second? Also, common bio-brain capacity (physical neurons available in your brain)- is about 100-Billion neurons firing in infinite patterns. So, only two-thousand bits of information per second for the conscious mind, versus four-hundred-Billon bits every second for the subconscious mind -- so who do YOU think is "in control" of MOST of your life? Well, quite obviously your 400-billion-bit "subconscious hard drive mind" - of which your conscious mind can "only keep track of" 2,000 of the 400-billion bits per second -- in any given moment.Point. your subconscious hard drive has your own, personally designed (via YOUR life's individual experiences, intent & attitude) software programs - no different than having MS-Word, Excel and Adobe.Pdf programs on your computer's hard drive. And now a fact. no "software" in the Subconscious Mind = zero function for a given, desired Life-outcome / performance. So finally, the "How To" part, that leads us inextricably to the conclusion that any and all "technologies" THAT ADDRESS EXCLUSIVELY THE SUBCONSCIOUS MIND - are, in fact our most powerful tools for mind and life empowerment strategy; that then can and will lead us to our most passionate conscious goals, aspirations and dreams -- quickly and permanently.Self-Help at its best.Commonly known, but seldom utilized by "the masses" due to lack of knowledge, the (3) top methods for reaching the subconscious mind are. #1.) all Subliminal subconscious reprogramming technologies, #2.) all Hypnotic subconscious reprogramming techniques (either self-hypnosis or professionally administered) and finally #3.) which is probably unknown to MOST of you - is a highly refined set of subconscious reprogramming techniques named "Psych-K" (an abbreviation for Psychological Kinesiology(TM)), which was developed and refined by a top Colorado-based psychotherapist by the name of Rob Williams; and designed exclusively to very rapidly "install new software" (of your choice) - right onto your subconscious hard drive and "click SAVE" to boot so that you can consciously "click on" and "run" your new, life-empowering programs at will!A thorough investigation of the differences between each (#1 Subliminal, #2 Hypnosis & #3 Psychological Kinesiology(TM)) - would now be prudent on your part, so that you can immediately begin personally exploring what strikes you as the most intriguing technique(s) to start out with, to accelerate the implementation of your most passionate, conscious intentions -- deal?

We are in a brand new era of history right now.The technological advances that we have seen in the last few years are astounding. They have entered and altered pretty much every facet of everyday life, not at all excluding education. These technological advancements have made it possible for there to be multiple sources and forms of education. This means that there are now multiple sources and places to find human physiology courses. This is good news for most students entering the medical education arena.Every student hoping to make a successful career within the medical community will have to successfully pass at least one, but probably many more human physiology courses. Here are some of the options you can consider when going about choosing a human physiology course to take. Traditional Classrooms. Technology has changed lots of things, but it hasn't taken away your choice to continue your education in the more traditional route of classroom learning. All college and other higher learning campuses will continue to offer human physiology courses in tradition classroom formats.Online Classes. There are some highly rated and well accredited online colleges at this time.If you are having to build your college education around your current work and life schedule, then taking your human physiology class in this online format may be the best option for you. Many traditional colleges even offer online classes in addition to their traditional classroom options.Correspondence Classes. This format is a little more old school (no pun intended) than the other options, but can still be very useful to students who have other priorities and duties to attend to in their life other than schooling. This educational format for human physiology courses will involve reading and completing assignments from home, mailing in the completed assignments, and taking tests at a registered testing site, or under the guidance of a qualified test proctor.Unaccredited Online Courses. If human physiology courses are something you have always been interested in taking for the information alone, or if you are simply looking for a good review of your human physiology courses from the past, there are some great course products you can purchase that will give you all the information you want, along with tests and other assignments, without the worry of credits, due dates, and tuition.Human Anatomy & Physiology Course is just one of those great products that can be a big asset to any medical student or professional.Everyone learns in different ways, and everyone's lives allow for a different set of circumstances. That used to be a problem for some people as there were limited educational resources and formats. Not so, today! You can be successful in any educational path thanks to all of the different options and products that have come about from all the technological advances of this day and age.Research and study all these different options to find the best physiology course choice for you and your personal situation.
The really nice thing about being a kid is that the world is a much bigger place that has yet to be discovered.Whether it is the garden in the backyard or the playground that hosts so much laughter and fun, there is always something new to discover, and kids - being the curious and exploratory creatures they are - will get a kick out of finding new things to hold and see.If your child roaming around with a sparkle in their eyes that only discovering something new would bring, then why not give them something that will truly knock their socks off by buying them a microscope for kids. While some kids start out exploring their surroundings with a magnifying glass in hand, you can definitely go one level higher by getting them a microscope for kids. While a magnifying glass only makes everything look bigger - not to mention burn anything you put underneath it - a microscope will do tons better than that as you can really see how an object looks really close. While they are not as powerful as a professional microscope can be, these microscopes are still powerful enough to fascinate not just your child, but, who knows, even you. With this tool in their hands, your children can learn from almost anything, to the simple green leaves that spread out from the tree branches, to the very dirty soil underneath the swing set in the playground.Even from the dirt under their nails, your children can easily learn how harmful they can be.A microscope for kids is an especially exciting tool for a child who shows interests in the areas of environment, biology, even chemistry.A plain fly you have swatted can - under the microscope - teach a child how many legs it has, how its body is made, and so much more.A microscope for kids can have powerful lenses that can go as much as 1000x magnification. But the trick to getting the right microscope for your child is to know his specific interest. If your child shows excitement in small objects such as insects, leaves, and the like, a microscope with a 20x magnification can be enough. If your child is a budding microbiologist who likes to study smaller things like the bacteria festering on your bathroom tiles, then a microscope with a 500x magnification or higher can be really helpful. It is also important that you look for a microscope with a built-in light source, so it can operate well even in a room that is poorly lighted. You can also choose either a microscope with one eye piece or with a binocular.Who says science is boring? By giving the right instruments to your children, you can bring the fun back into science. With a microscope for kids, not only will you be the coolest parent ever by getting them a grown up instrument that can allow them to study even the grosses things they can find, you can also give yourself a pat on the back by being the good parent by letting them learn in an exciting way.
Reviewing the state of being human means allowing ourselves to look directly at the fact that we have three major bodily survival processes to our species. They are..1.) Intake/output (food / water), 2.) Breathing, and 3.) Sex, none of which we have been highly educated on throughout our present evolution.Today there is research and knowledge that helps us know how much we still need to know.We do not have a focus on foods and their nutritional value and resources. There is a constant emphasis on weight, being thin and fitting a social size, instead of health as the focus. So the marketplace for an adult is a huge selection of books of perspectives on how to be thin.Facts about the body's needs of nutrition were not there when our major growth and body development from birth through childhood was happening.Parents ate whatever ethnic food conditioning they had or what they could afford.Water.We know so little about how vital water is to us that we are slowly but surely destroying its availability.Did anyone tell you when growing up that your physical body consists of over 70% water? That you need to keep hydrated? Water was not determined by amount, but by demand, and if you had been drinking other liquids, then chances are you did not know your body was dehydrated! Liquid was the thing, to drink coffee, pop, anything but water! The fact is, many of those liquids create dehydration.Water is what the body needs.Good water, clean water, drinkable water, and lots of it.Breath is yet another ignorance we have socially. We pollute our air and atmosphere due to this ignorance.Breath is not a choice we make, pollution is.And when we have depleted the benefits in the air, we seem perplexed and puzzled. Then we do not connect our weak immune systems as having anything to do with air.We need more understanding and knowledge on how to breathe correctly.Research shows children stop breathing correctly for health between five months to four years of age.Our population stopped breathing for health and body needs by four years old! Think about this. All physical and mental development depends on correct breathing. Our most powerful time of development is from conception to nine years old.Biology books may not have caught up with the outcome of research of the cells, but our brain has been programmed by our environment, not our genes, and that determines how we will live the rest of our lives. The fact that brain neurons change after nine years old is not likely in our present system of education and lifestyle that is ruled mostly by media and social level standardization. So the majority of the world at large is still in the mindset they were in at age nine!Breathing like a newborn is abdominal breathing, and allowing the entire respiratory system to work, even the lower lobes of the lungs.Shallow breathing comes from fear and early childhood anxiety.Early physical activity where deep breathing is accomplished is good.Yet most children today are held to sedentary lifestyles.Few chores or responsibility for family needs and living conditions are shared with them.Early understanding was achieved by earlier and healthier generations through family bonding and being involved activity.Sound and practical psychology are grounded on a person feeling capable and educated.Babies and toddlers are like mocking birds - they imitate the people who make up their immediate influence and daily range of bonding. If we want them to be responsible teenagers and have a full role in family benefits and income, then it has to happen at an early age.Children want to do what you do.They want to clean, cook, garden and work.So when you treat them like they are not capable, do not expect there is a switch that turns on when they are of whatever age you think they should kick in and do their part! It happens in the beginning.Parents who work outside the home and the children who stay home have a disadvantage. So whoever is doing the home care needs to include and teach them daily.Chores and routines are grounding and assist in providing stability for children.Attention spans will be short if you are not creative and show excitement and joy of your work and service.Children in rural communities have a greater sense of what it takes to live than urban community children. There is an exception if parents have a better focus on early childhood education.Home schooled children have a better and more grounded level of education than institutionally taught children. And a greater number of them maintain higher scores in college entrance testing. Why, you ask? It is due to living is learning and home schooled children learn as life unfolds.Basic educational needs such as numbers, letters, math, spelling, sciences, etc.Are part of everyday ordinary living. These skills are mastered by living them, seeing them, and the manner of how they are applied during the course of a day of living.Institutionalized learning is taking children out of their normal, hopefully home-safe, living activities and it makes education a chore and an activity outside the ordinary state of life.Children use their survival codes to deal with each other. The emotional field of dealing with an unfamiliar environment causes children to be unkind and more challenging to each other.Flight or fight instincts prevail more than a desire to learn educational basics.I think sending a young child off to such an environment is one of the cruelest things we do today. And obviously it is not working! Look at the results. drugs, premature parenting or conceptions, anger, and loss of communication with family. So inevitably, the young person's environmental challenges create emotional reactions of uncertainty, anxiety, fear, insecurity and abandonment. So breathing follows. The breath of survival code is shallow and brief or a non-breath state, all unhealthy. The brain, as well as every cell in our body, shifts to flight or fight mode, hormonal balance is shifted, and then we alter our state of evolution.Teaching people to breathe as adults is a lucrative business and health care must! Stress release practices are all based on breath.Save your money on the massage and get a Breath Therapist, you will live longer and healthier. All good things in life come with good breathing.Mindsets and outcomes to our activities are all breath related.Science is just on the brink of releasing the research that they have on the powerful importance to correct breathing. Our societies and religious influences are lacking a sound perspective to the importance of sexual evolution as well.An uncomfortable subject to most people, I am always amazed even at this age of sixty-four years, how ignorant the mass is regarding the importance of sexual relations to us as beings.Yet it is the most powerful experience we have in life. With the emotional extreme that is put on it and all the rules and restrictions around it, we seem to forget it is the very nature of our existence. And it is the highest experience to being Co-Creators to the One That Is In All Things/God or whatever Sacred Name you use.Sexuality is the very base of our life source. It is the spiritual fire that is the source of our physical existence. The effects our hormonal balance triggers are to maintain youthful and life-sustaining forces.Sexual activity can improve our aging outcome. If women find their sex drive and their activity dwindling after menopause, they age much faster.Instead of exploring it from a more mature and exciting viewpoint and activity, they withdraw. This is more of a social standard of belief.Being beyond child conception can be a more liberating time if you are exploring sex as the fires of creativity and pleasure! There is a whole chemistry here that I will not go into at this time, but it is the very essence of vitality and longevity.Creativity is enhanced with sexual activity. There is a personal level of need that is unique to each of us, some more, some less. And I am not referring to sleaze and abuse here, of these parts of our nature.Sexual knowledge is still pretty much held to biological terms for most, unless you have explored Tantric Yoga practices of this life force. And that is exactly what it is, life force, to explore in a caring and loving manner, a giving and a taking of pleasure and inner exploration.Today we see more of our lower animal and aggressive natures being set off with this powerful life force. We appeal to the weaker and less knowledgeable part of sex appeal.Sex is first triggered in our minds and reactionary processes which brings us to the physical climaxing that is the enviable goal of sexual activity. Thus, we can trip through our own fantasy and manipulate our own pleasure by masturbating, an exercise totally stimulated by thought and mind.Ads and media play with this natural base of operations by using sexually seducing models and suggestive reflections to stimulate product interest. It works; statistics prove it through sales reports! So a connection to all material products or services we use in our daily life is promoted by stimulating our interests in sexual expression. It often is done tastefully and there are some that are exploiting as well. The point is that sex is a vital part of life, and it is the least taught or known wisdom. We have extreme severities, religious celibacy, sexual rapes and exploitation. The fact that there are such extremes with the subject makes no one comfortable with it generally.Children do not get early sexual education; is this in hope of avoiding interest? Well, that may sound ridiculous, but that is the plan in most instances! Parents do not know how to go about sex education, and they usually do it in a clinical sense and the young therefore realize they are not tuned in or don't have a clue! They are not willing to consider the children know something, in as much as they know they were born.So the drama goes.Sex is a gift of life and pleasure. For us to approach it as a means of being truly caring and loving is a good base of practice, not as a duty, or service expected, nor punishable if not complying.Female suppression and male dominance roles do not make this the way Nature works it.Religious regulation is not working well and guilt-ridden teachings do not help an already failing system to regroup. In my life and observing the ways of being human, I have come to see something I want to share. There is no need for you to agree, just think on it.We have a male dominated society almost throughout the world. So sex is harsh and restrictive.Obedience of the female and subservient, submissive behavior is asked or demanded from woman.Sex is her duty to her mate, and temptation her sin.Pretty grim stuff. She is asked to conceal her body as man cannot control himself, or handle the temptation.Man's sin or woman's? Someone is to blame and something is wrong, is what this all sounds like.So sex is going through some kind of abusive history.Women who use this for their own agendas are placing themselves in a game of male aggressive behavior.Soon the psychological process creates a painful inner reaction for both man and woman. Then sex becomes the battleground and emotional anger and abuse prevails; just look around you.In my life I have studied the Goddess teachings of many cultures. Also Ancient civilizations where woman was recognized for her gifts of beauty and love-making.She was an agent of caring and creativity.A life giver and Mother.Matriarchal civilizations were better balanced and men were honored more in them than women in patriarchal societies. No doubt about it, gender differences are biological and chemistry based, but our sexual natures blend in the making of love, versus having sex.A man can naturally have sex without emotional connections, just pure sex drive and it's done.Woman brings more to it emotionally. Her hormonal base gives off a chemistry that directs this, it is called oxytocin and she cannot not personalize her partners. She chooses to be alluring and sublime and build to a thunder and plateau of sexual fire and breath.Pleasure is her goal, for herself and partner. To act out her fantasy of beauty and dance, her energy field feeds this to her partner. She draws forth passion and climax and the renewal of life forces are kindled.Man can accompany her or just exist within the dance.Either way she exposes herself and gives of herself from an inner place. If man is touched by it, he is moved to emotional connections of his own.So much for sin and punishment. What is the religious fear of sex? A given of suchmagnitude can only be such from Creator. We co-create with sexual pleasuring. We bring forth the fire of the Kundalini or Creation Fires in our sexual joining. The divine trine, Father, Mother, Child, all this and then some is sexual exchange of pleasure, nurturing, and healing.Only divine force can give this.So as we look at all the "crazies" we do with the most powerful of all life-giving source, is there no wonder we are bringing ourselves to the door of extinction if we do not reconsider our priorities intelligently? If Life is a cycle, and in the cycle is a cell of life, can we turn this one around? I believe, yes we can.And I believe enough of us are asking the questions that make for higher thinking. And children of God are maturing and growing up.To be.?Sexuality is all about how we believe and what our mind set and perception are.It will only be as we make it.We have seen what guilt, shame, abuse and denials do.Let's take the position and act accordingly, let's truly be God's children.Let's look at these three sources of life truly as our keeping. What's your action plan?By Parisha Taylor.
Introduction.Knowledge in earth science is very vital in nation building.Almost everything we do each day is connected in some way to Earth. to its land, oceans, atmosphere, plants, and animals. The food we eat, the water we drink, our homes and offices, the clothes we wear, the energy we use, and the air we breathe are all grown in, taken from, surround, or move through the planet.According to American Geological Institute (AGI) Foundation, by 2025, eight billion people will live on Earth. This number of people will undoubtedly continue extracting resources to maintain a high quality of life.As we benefit from all the resources we get from the Earth, then we, as individuals and citizens, need to know more about our planet - its processes, its resources, and its environment. And only through Earth Science education can students understand and appreciate our complex planet. In this present time, the old and the young must join hands and help one another in the serious task of nation-building, the young to learn from the wisdom and experience of the elders, the elders to recognize the impatience of the youth. In contrast, not all young students are willing to cooperate in order to acquire the needed knowledge, attitudes and skills essential for a secure future. It is then a burgeoning task for the teacher to facilitate learning so that quality education will be acquired by the students. This paper will discuss the different challenges faced by the teacher in imparting knowledge about Earth Science in public secondary school, likewise it will also discuss the positive aspects in learning the subject.THE CHALLENGES.Motivation.My first experience in teaching earth science was on September 2005 in one of the public secondary schools in Davao Oriental, specifically in District 1.I can still remember the first day when I entered the class of more than fifty (50) students crowded in a classroom. Some of them were busy chatting with their classmates, some were busy doing different tasks in their seats, etc.The first question that popped into my mind during that moment was. how can I get the attention of the students? As I introduced myself to them as their new science teacher, I saw different emotions reflecting on their faces. There were emotions of excitement, worries, anxieties, happiness, etc.I am not really sure if they were prepared to take new lessons in earth science. What I did was to let them get a piece of paper and let them write in there. their names, favorite subject, subject they hate most and why they love/hate a certain subject, and their expectation/s of the subject.I did this just to know whether they have interest in the subject or to know what subjects they liked best and the reasons why they love the subject. From that, I learned that out of more than fifty (50) students, only four (4) said that they like science subject. When I asked them why they do not like science as a subject, the common answer was. "Science is a difficult subject".From that experience alone, I got an insight that students will have difficulty in learning a subject if they do not like the subject.Indeed, teaching Earth Science to undergraduates or high school students could be difficult "if the students are not motivated or if they are not interested in the subject".There are several ways of motivating the students to be interested in Earth Science. In my own experience, I used songs as part of my lessons - songs which are easy to learn and frequently heard by the students.I used the tune of a particular song and changed the lyrics so that it will fit with the topic I am discussing. There are also songs introduced to us during seminars that are very helpful because students would find it easier to memorize certain science concepts by just singing the songs over and over again.Example of these songs are. "We're the Scientist" - in the tune of "Ako'y Isang Pinoy"; "Sistemang Harana" - in the tune of "Harana" as popularized by Parokya ni Edgar, this emphasizes the importance of scientific method in solving problem; "Super Science" - in the tune of "Superman", stressed on the contributions of science in enhancing our lives; and a jolly song - "Youngsters Love Science".After introducing these songs, I found them useful in memorizing scientific terms, concepts, and processes. With this, I feel happy when I heard some of my students singing those songs and sharing them with their friends. There are different ways of motivating students to learn Earth Science.Teachers should bear in their mind that flexible approaches and connections to other subjects is the key to success in a classroom for motivating student interest. It was proven true with my personal teaching experiences. One should not stick to one option if it doesn't work. Here are the motivating techniques which have been proven to work well with most students..1.Relate local or national or international news items to some aspect of Earth Science. One may choose from a variety of items from the news. Some of the older news items and their impact on social/political life may also be of interest to students.Any news items relating to the following are generally welcomed by most students for class discussion. Earthquakes; Volcanoes; Tsunamis; Floods; Meteor Showers; and news items related to disasters - present or from past.2.Pick a topic of common interest to most of the students, such as social or political problem that they are familiar with. nuclear power plants, illegal logging, global warming, consequences of urbanization; and mining. In my case, I used illegal logging, illegal fishing and mining as my point of focus because these issues are really happening in our locality.3.Historical or biblical or religious locations and the geology associated with it. the Chasm at Delphi and the Apollo Temple in Greece and the vapors that emanates from the location; the geology of biblical areas such as the ones in Middle East; the Taj Mahal in India; the Pyramids in Egypt; the Great Wall of China; Niagara Falls and Grand Canyon in USA; Stories of Precious stones and gems; and any other similar ones.4.Anecdotes from the scientific discoveries/contributions of great men/women of the past and present. Aristotle; Eratosthenes (measurement of the circumference of the earth); Ptolemy; Copernicus; Tycho Brahe; Johannes Kepler; Archimedes; Newton; Einstein; James Hutton; Charles Lyell; N.L.Bowen; Alfred Wegener; Harry Hess; and many more names that are worth mentioning in Earth Sciences.5.Space exploration always fascinates students. anecdotes of Lunar exploration; Mars missions and life on Mars; Jupiter and its clouds and moons; discovery of new stars and other galaxies outside our own; and other similar explorations.6.There are several facts that intrigue and fascinate most Earth Science students. a.Deepest mine in the world b.Deepest bore hole in the world c.Comparison of the above numbers with the radius of the Earth This can show them how little we know about the earth through direct observation.D.Compare these distances with the distance to the Moon These numbers can raise questions like "how come we did not go too far down inside the earth" and "how come we went almost quarter of a million miles to the moon".E.Latitude and longitude and their use in navigation and the time zones f.Deep sea drilling and the mid-fifties project to drill past Moho into the mantle g.The election of President John F.Kennedy and his pledge to land a man on the moon h.The theory of continental drift and the evidence for it i.The fascinating new theory of Plate Tectonics and its development.I used some of the items stated above and they worked for me in classrooms.Good general knowledge coupled with interest and knowledge of a variety of items in Earth Sciences "can help the teacher in getting the students enthused in the subject".As teacher, we should always bear in mind that Earth Science poses questions that are exciting as well as practical to children and adults alike.Comprehension of the English Language.Provided that the students are well motivated in learning the subject, another problem comes in - how they will understand the instruction with the use of English language? It is an inevitable fact that most of my freshmen (first year) students do not understand spoken or written English. Those that can fairly understand belong to the first section but there are also students in the first section that cannot speak or write in English language correctly. This is really a problem because teaching Earth Science should be in English and all the references are written or published in English. It is also a known fact that English is the "Universal language of Science".Therefore, in imparting knowledge to students, teachers should use English as a medium of instruction.I must also admit that I am not perfect in terms of elaborating concepts with the use of English so what I did was use the vernacular in some part of my discussion. To maximize understanding of a certain concept, I translated some scientific terms into the students' vernacular so that they can fully understand what am I talking or explaining about. In our school it was really noted that non-readers or readers with poor comprehension pull down the performance of the school during achievement test (Division, Regional or National). To partly solve the problem, if not totally eradicate, an Informal Reading Inventory (IRI) was conducted. This will gauge the reading level of the First Year students so that the school, especially the teachers can identify who among the students are non-readers or has poor reading comprehension. After the inventory it was found out that there are students with reading ability that is of Grade I level and there are really non-readers.So another burden is given to English teachers because aside from teaching their usual subject loads, they will do remedial classes for those students identified as non-readers or with poor reading comprehension. It is not only a burden for the English teachers but for other teachers as well who taught subjects with English as a medium of instruction. It should also be noted that poor or substantive English background slows down the process of scientific development because it is hard to understand scientific concepts while at the same time learning English language - this is learning two things simultaneously.Discipline Inside the Classroom. In a classroom of more than fifty students or in some classroom sixty students, it is really important that discipline should always reign for maximum learning. In my first year of teaching, classroom discipline is really an issue for me.I easily got irritated by students who were noisy, always going outside the classroom without valid reasons, and students yelling or fighting with each other. But through reading books and attending seminars about classroom discipline, this problem was slowly been elucidated.A well managed classroom will give the students rich opportunities for mental growth and development.Good classroom discipline produces favorable working conditions conducive to good learning and makes school work enjoyable and interesting. One aspect of the teacher's role under the concept of discipline is to help students practice self-control and to develop standards of individual values and activities that will be carried on regardless of whether the teacher or parent or someone else in authority is around or not.The concept of discipline when I was still in my elementary years is really different as compared with modern concept of discipline which is based on democratic principles.A good discipline is one that develops self-direction and self-discipline rather than discipline based on compulsion and obedience. In addition, he laid emphasis on becoming familiar with the cause of violation of discipline in order that such causes may be minimized, if not prevented, and offenses may be more satisfactorily diagnosed and treated. As facilitator of students' learning in Earth Science I should always bear in mind that classroom discipline is really one of the vital tools so that learning could be attained. It is an inevitable fact that the teacher can be an effective facilitator of learning only when there is discipline and proper classroom management in teaching-learning.Making Use of Technology. The use of textbooks alone in imparting science concepts and processes is not enough.Any ordinary classroom on Earth is not the best place to observe interactions ranging in scale from solar system to the components of a cell. With just pure lectures, often learners are forced to create their own mental images to understand situations they cannot view directly. In many instances the result has been a misconception that takes on a reality of its own inside the students mind.Standard textbooks have been ineffective in changing these deeply rooted misconceptions.Students remain confused about topics involving basic spatial relationships such as the reason for the seasons. To solve this problem, there is persistent call for a teacher to be creative in his teaching and maximize the technology present. To keep pace with the advancement of Science and Technology, teachers need to have creative and inquiring minds.Such thoughts and ideas "conceived by the inquiring minds" inspire and challenge the teacher to be creative. In connection with the call of being creative and to equate myself with the evolving technology, I constantly visit the World Wide Web so that I can make my lessons updated. This was not easy for me because the place where I've been teaching has no internet connection and only during weekends that I can browse the Internet for topics that need further elaboration through videos or flash animations. In addition, I used PowerPoint in order to make my lessons interactive to the students and I've found out that their interest in my lessons was elevated with the use of computers. Moreover, I was happy because our Principal really encouraged the use of PowerPoint in classroom instruction. In fact he proposed and spearheaded the implementation of Computer Aided Instruction (CAI) in the Division of Davao Oriental.THE REWARDS.Students' Achievement. The first person that would feel happy in the achievement of students in terms of learning Earth Science is the teacher.I personally beam with pride when my students perform well during exams or on the top rank during contest related to Earth Science. It was remarkable for me when my two contestants for the 2008 Division Science Quiz held in San Isidro National High School ranked second and third respectively.I felt that this is my reward for exerting effort in reviewing students about science concepts not only through books but also from the information retrieved from the internet and by helping and teaching them how to use the computer in exploring the Encarta Encyclopedia.I also felt fulfilled when I see my students embraced positive attitudes in learning the subject. With this, I established in students' heart the love for Earth Science that could be very helpful in learning other sciences like Biology, Chemistry, and Physics.A course in earth sciences can provide to students an introduction to subject matter in all other sciences that illustrates their relevance and connections. With a strong foundation in Earth Science, students will no longer find difficulty in learning other sciences. My Contribution in Nation-Building and for the Future. As a teacher in Earth Science, I can say that I have a great role in building a nation -- a nation that maximizes its resources but does not sacrifice the future. Our lives and civilization depend upon how we understand and manage our planet.Earth processes affect us all.Weather patterns influence the availability of water resources and the potential for earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, typhoons, and floods can kill large numbers of people and cause millions or even billions of pesos in property damage. If our students are well informed about those processes affecting our lives then they would be cautious in every actions they will do like cutting trees, burning too much fossil fuels, the use of aerosol sprays, etc.Every lesson in Earth science will somehow connect students to the past, as well as challenging them to think about the future.Conclusion.Teaching Earth science in secondary school is not an easy task.A lot of challenges must be surmounted so that teaching-learning could be a pleasant experience for both the teachers and students. My first three years experiences in teaching the subject have really shaped my knowledge and attitudes towards the subject.Since my elementary years as a student, I still bring the passion and love in understanding the complex world of science. And now that I'm in the field, then it is my turn to permeate my enthusiasm in learning science subjects to my students especially during their first science subject in secondary education which is the earth science. The earth sciences provide the best all-around introduction to science. The earth sciences integrate concepts from all other major disciplines of science, including biology, chemistry and physics. Thus, teaching of earth sciences throughout the elementary and secondary schools will promote scientific literacy in general. As teachers we should always keep abreast of the technology so that our knowledge in the subject matter will be updated from time to time.We should always let our students view science as part of their everyday lives so that they will not feel alienated from it.Lastly, we should always bear in our minds that an understanding of the earth sciences is critical for a secure future. When we emphasize Earth science education, everyone benefits.

Product Description
The working principles of mind, including their origins and evolution, has long been a difficult and controversial area among psychologists. But it is now also under siege by cognitive scientists, biologists, anthropologists, mathematicians, computer modelers, and even physicists. Yet little has been generally agreed, even about basic, everyday, processes of perception and cognition. Critics now warn us about the overly simple notions of biological adaptation and cognitive processing that have flooded the field in recent years. And they stress the need for new conceptual foundations in the area, stressing work on complex, dynamic systems. With an eye on all these developments, this book is an attempt to establish such foundations. It stresses how the dynamic structure in environmental change has driven the evolution of living systems, from the origins of life to human cognitive functions. The ideas drawn together have many implications for research and theory on the human mind; for the goals and purposes of science itself in such dynamic fields; and for the nature of interventions in many practical domains.
Who else is thinking about getting a psychic reading? Are you at a crossroads in your life? Having questions about your relationships, or your career or not sure if you are even living the life you imagined? For many of us, we get to a point of our lives where we feel STUCK and unsure. And ultimately, uncertain about what to do next.Often, when we've exhausted all of the conventional ways of getting advice - talking to friends, family or even seeking out "professional" counseling, many of us have found AMAZING insights from speaking to a psychic or intuitive advisor. The truth is, you don't even need to BELIEVE that psychic abilities are real to have an eye opening experience that could change everything you believe to be true in a moment! (as I was a die hard skeptic until I had an experience that convinced me there was MUCH about the world I had yet to learn). That said.If you are serious about getting a psychic reading, there are super simple things you must do to prepare if you want to have a memorable experience. And in my 20 years of exploring psychic readings of ALL types both personally and professionally alike, I'm going to list the top 3 things I've learned along the way.Ready? Continue reading as we take a closer look!1 - The biology of BELIEF.You don't have to believe anything weird, exotic or "new age" to have a life changing experience with a psychic. You DO however, have to suspend your super skeptical outlook for at least a few minutes if you are going to have a worthwhile reading. Why? There are lots of studies that suggest that your ATTITUDE about an experience like this plays a big role in how information moves to and through people in a "psychic" way.Studies done in for example between people in love and people who HATE each other, have shown that a heart connection is actually a facilitator of psychic "transfer".(where folks who claim to "hate" each other have NO psychic connection at all. When studied in a lab).Similarly - folks who claim to be OPEN to the idea that psychic abilities are real, when their readings are OBJECTIVELY rated by believers and skeptics alike, are found to be much more accurate by all measures.(or said more simply - if you keep your MIND open before your reading begins, the likelihood of the intuitive being able to "read" you goes up exponentially).2 - Preparation is Key.Write down 3 to 5 key questions you want answers to before the reading begins.Have a goal in mind.Keep these questions to yourself obviously. But allow the reading to unfold in a way that allows them to be addressed.GRADE your reading based on whether the psychic, clairvoyant or intuitive actually gives you advice, insight and illumination on the questions your wrote down BEFORE hand.(rather than let them go off on a tangent that is unimportant to you!).3 - Know the TYPE of psychic reading you need.If you want to connect with a loved one that has passed on, for example.Seeing a medium is critical. If you have issues with your love life, seeing an emotional empath, or love psychic is key.Choosing the RIGHT type of psychic is similar to choosing the right type of professional in ANY field. You wouldn't go to a heart surgeon to prepare for a pregnancy. And you shouldn't see a love psychic to connect to your grandfather who has just passed over!Just PICK the right type of reading for you.And go for it! Don't over think it, or study and analyze the perfect reading for weeks or months.Set aside a 10 or 20 dollar budget, call a reputable service with great guarantees (money back or better) and ENJOY yourself! (you'll be amazed at the sort of information you can get that CAN change your life forever!).
